What began as a gathering for Osborne science students quickly became an unforgettable celebration when Superintendent Chris Ragsdale walked onto the Performing Arts Center stage and announced Lisa Peacock as the Cobb County School District High School Teacher of the Year. As the surprise set in, the curtains opened to Osborne’s Red Sea of Sound Pep Band, and Peacock’s family joined her on stage, turning the announcement into a celebration worthy of one of Cobb’s highest honors for educators.

For Peacock, the recognition reflects a journey that began long before she entered the classroom. Teaching was a second career, but working with young people has been part of her life for more than 30 years. She credits teachers who cared for her as a student and educators who mentored her as she entered the profession with helping shape the teacher she is today. In her biology classroom, Peacock works to make learning active and engaging while creating a place where students know they are cared for and supported. During the celebration, she made clear that her students remain at the center of it all - they are the reason she comes to work each day, and their successes, both inside and outside the classroom, are what bring her the greatest joy.

Peacock’s recognition also continues a remarkable run for Osborne educators. She becomes the third Osborne teacher since 2020 to be named Cobb’s High School Teacher of the Year, joining Beth Foster (2020) and Jasmin Molina (2024). Peacock’s honor is the latest in a growing tradition of excellence among Osborne teachers. Three district-level High School Teachers of the Year in six years is more than an impressive statistic - it is a reflection of the talented educators who choose to call Osborne home and the students who inspire their work every day.
