On September 11, our school community will join our nation in honoring the 25th Anniversary of Patriot Day and the National Day of Service and Remembrance. This important day provides an opportunity to remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost during the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, recognize the courage of first responders and military personnel, and reflect on the strength and resilience of our country.
As we commemorate this solemn anniversary, we encourage students, staff, and families to take a moment to remember the individuals and families affected by the events of 9/11. We also honor the countless heroes who responded in service to others and demonstrated extraordinary courage in the face of unimaginable circumstances.
Throughout the day, messages of remembrance will be displayed on our school's outdoor marquee and student information screens. These reminders will encourage reflection on the values of unity, service, compassion, and citizenship that continue to inspire our nation.
PMMS Patriot Day Service Challenge
Patriot Day is also recognized as a National Day of Service and Remembrance, encouraging all Americans to honor those affected by 9/11 through acts of kindness and service. In recognition of the 25th Anniversary, our school is challenging every student and classroom to complete at least one act of kindness or service during the day.
Students may choose to:
- Write thank-you notes to first responders and drop them off at the front office.
- Help a classmate who may have dropped their belongings in the hall, needs help understanding an assignment, or could benefit from words of encouragement.
- Participate in campus beautification efforts by picking up trash, straightening chairs, organizing common areas, or helping keep our school clean and welcoming.
Through these simple actions, we honor the spirit of service, compassion, and community that emerged in the days following September 11, 2001.
As we remember the past, we reaffirm our commitment to creating a caring and supportive school community built on respect, service, and unity.
