Watch D.O.G.S. shows continued success at Varner Elementary.

This episode of The Inside Scoop features host David Owen speaking with Principal Althea Singletary and speech pathologist Tony Tesmer, about the Watch D.O.G.S. initiative that's proven to be a success at Varner Elementary School.

Watch D.O.G.S, also known as Dads of Great Students, is a program implemented across several Cobb Schools that incorporates dads into students' everyday learning.

In this podcast, Tesmer discusses how he helped start Watch D.O.G.S. at Varner and how it has benefited everyone around the school.

You'll also hear Principal Singletary explain how this initiative has helped attendance numbers and built a stronger sense of community within the school.

Watch D.O.G.S. started in Texas and now has more than 8,000 chapters nationwide, including several here in Cobb.

Even with a program all across the country, this podcast dives into how Cobb Schools has received special recognition on a nationwide scale for standing out as a success story for involving dads in their kid's school.

At Varner, hundreds of dads have been inside the school to help read to kids, monitor hallways, participate in PE and arts classes, and help during lunchtime.

This podcast conversation explores how a school can start this program and how dads across Cobb can get involved.
