This week’s artist of the week is Piper Cathey from Allatoona’s drama department. Mrs. Kemp, the drama fine arts teacher, expresses that, “She is one of the most positive young ladies with a big heart, and she is always there to lift others up, and she’s extremely talented.” Seeing as this is Piper’s first year in Allatoona as a freshman, she’s been in the department since the start of her year. Piper’s initial reaction about being selected as Artist of the Week was, “I’m kind of shocked, I’m not going to lie; I wasn’t expecting it, but I’m excited.” She says her favorite memory from drama is “probably going to state and getting ready for state and regionals; that was fun”. Piper adds she’s been acting since the third grade, when she was just nine years old. When asked about doing drama as a career, Piper says, “Yes, I plan to go and get my degree in musical theatre.” Her advice to younger youth interested in drama is, “Don’t be afraid to do something you’re scared of, because I did a lot of that; just going and being scared - Because it’s worth it in the end.” Congratulations to Piper Cathey on being selected as Artist of the Week!
