KMHS Student at
Shannon Laffey, a Transition Academy student at KMHS,
recently competed in the Down Syndrome World Gymnastics
Championships in Motara, Italy. Shannon competed amongst her
peers from all around the world and won the gold medal in the
balance beam as well as 3 silver medals in the uneven bars,
floor and all-around. The Mustang Nation is so proud of you and
your accomplishments Shannon! Congratulations!
Tom Mathis PTSA Meeting
Ms. Angela Fiechtl, KMHS Teacher of the Year, receives

Cobb Impact Grant Winner
Mr. Berk Alexander is the proud winner of a $2500 Cobb Impact
Grant. Soon, he will begin to bring the planets and stars into
the classroom and educate the Cobb community about the universe.
Help Shop with a Mustang
Kennesaw Mountain has the opportunity to participate in a
competition sponsored by a car dealership in the Atlanta area.
In an effort to promote safe driving habits among teens,
students take a "pledge" to be a safe driver, and earn votes
towards KMHS. If our school has the most participation by
December 5th, we will win $10,000 to be donated towards Shop
with a Mustang. Students, friends, family members, go to

Costa Rica 2017
Looking for an unbelievable adventure in 2017? Do you want to
learn outside the traditional setting of a classroom and earn
high school credit? Well look no further as Coach G and Ms.
Vaillancourt are headed to Costa Rica and want you to come
along! This is a 10-day all-inclusive trip that includes
visiting The Manuel Antonio National Park, ziplining, taking a
crocodile boat cruise and many other incredible opportunities
only available outside the traditional classroom. There will be
an informational meeting on Monday, October 26th from
5:00 - 6:00 pm in the media center. Email either Coach G at Corey.Goldstein@cobbk12.org (room

622) to reserve your seat at this meeting. Spots are limited and

Certificate of School Enrollment Information
Certificates of School Enrollment are required to obtain both a
Georgia Learner's Permit and a Georgia Driver's License for
students under the age of 18. Certificates expire in 30 days.
Apply in the Attendance Office every Tuesday from
7:45-8:20 am. There is a $2.00 processing fee, bring exact
change. Certificates will be ready for pick-up on Friday.
Students can go online to complete the
work permit paperwork. Bring the GA DOL printout in person
to the main office or the attendance office.
The work permit will be completed in 24 hours from the
time it is turned in.
Effective July 1, 2015, with the
exception of minors in entertainment, work permits are no longer
required for youth age 16 and older.
