FRONT OFFICE/ATTENDANCE PROCEDURES

EARLY CHECKOUT

Please have a valid photo ID to enter the school and check your student out.

No Digital IDs allowed per Cobb County District policy.

No student check outs permitted after 3:45pm.  Please be in the front office no later than 3:45 pm.

Have your student bring an early check-out note to the front office, upon arrival. Do not send an email for an early dismissal.

The note needs to include the following information:

-Student’s legal first and last name (No nicknames, please.)

-Homeroom teacher

-Date, specific time of pick-up

-Name of person picking up

-Reason for leaving

-Signature of enrolling adult

**Please check your “Release to” contacts in ParentVUE.  As the enrolling adult, you manage your student contacts.  A person must be listed as a student contact with “release to” rights to pick up your student. You can find instructions on how to do so in the Resource tab of the menu on our Dickerson website, Updating Student Contacts on ParentVUE. Look for Updating Student Contacts on ParentVUE. **

IS YOUR STUDENT COMING IN LATE?

-Please write a note explaining their tardy. Your student will bring their note to front office and sign-in. (Notes should include: date, student’s full legal name, reason for tardy, and parent signature.) Students cannot excuse themselves.  Without a note, their tardy will go unexcused.

-Bring medical appointment excuse note, if applicable.

-Parents do not need to walk students in.

If they forget a note, you have 3 days to email a tardy excuse to dickersonmssupport@cobbk12.org.

LUNCH REMINDERS

Lunches (by 11am) and eyewear are the only items accepted in the front office. Fast food is not permitted.  The lunch cart sits outside the front entrance of the school until 11 am (10:25 am on early release days), then brought to the front entrance of the cafeteria.  Students will not be notified of lunches on the cart. Make sure they know to check it if they forget their lunch.

MEDICATION DROP OFF

Please contact Nurse Vanessa at vanessa.moulthrop@cobbk12.org.

ATTENDANCE

Per Cobb County District Attendance Policy, attendance excuses need to be provided to the school in writing, within 3 days of the absence.   You have choices in how you do this.

respond to the automated attendance notification from CTLS

email our school attendance inbox at dickersonmssupport@cobbk12.org

bring a handwritten note to the front office of the school

The absence remains unexcused unless we receive some kind of communication from you.  Teachers are unable to code attendance.  Do not email teachers about attendance issues. All notes/emails should include your student’s legal name, dates you are referencing, and reason for their absence.

If there are any attendance issues (maybe your student was marked absent when they were in class), please enter your message into the CTLS automated attendance notification link you receive OR email dickersonmssupport@cobbk12.org. These go directly to Ms. Helsel, and she can then tend to your issue.  Do not email the teachers about this, as they are unable to code attendance.

For medical appointments, ask for an excuse note for school and have your student bring it into the front office when they return, or email it to our attendance inbox at dickersonmssupport@cobbk12.org.
