This program also collaborates closely with Wheeler High School’s JROTC to provide additional leadership opportunities and mentorship.

Sources of Strength:

Mission/Purpose: The Sources of Strength program is here to help ECMS students feel supported and connected at school. Our goal at ECMS is to build their resilience, help them develop healthy coping skills, and make it easier to ask for help when they need it.

Instead of focusing on problems such as bullying, violence, or substance misuse, Sources of Strength focuses on the positive things they already have: their strengths, their friendships, and the support around them. By creating a caring and inclusive school community, ECMS wants to help students feel like they belong, encourage each other, and know that reaching out for support is a sign of strength. Together, at ECMS, we can make our school a place where everyone feels safe, supported, and ready to thrive! Students are not alone, and their strength matters!

Faculty Sponsor: Ms. R. Opore

Description of Planned Activities: Sources of Strength is about building positive connections and supporting each other’s well-being. Through fun programs and events, the initiative helps students be there for one another and reach out for help when life gets tough.

The program trains adult advisors and peer leaders who guide students in developing healthy coping skills and knowing when it’s okay to ask for help. Throughout the year, ECMS holds interactive events and school-wide campaigns that share messages of hope, strength, and connection in ways that are fun and inspiring.

Together, these activities help create a caring environment where everyone feels valued, connected, and supported, so students know it’s okay to lean on their friends and trusted adults when they need it.

Meeting Days/Times: Days will alternate, with meetings held once per month at 9:30 AM

Additional Information: Sources of Strength Wheel

sourcesofstrengthwheel.6b422d125154.png

The Sources of Strength Wheel is all about the different parts of students’ lives that make them strong and helps them bounce back when life gets tough. It includes categories such as family support, positive friends, mentors who guide them, fun and healthy activities, generosity, spirituality, physical health, and mental health.

Each piece of the wheel is a source of strength students can use to handle challenges, reach their goals, and just feel better day-to-day. The wheel shows that it is not just one thing that makes them strong, it’s the combination of all these supports working together. When students balance these strengths, they are building a solid foundation to handle whatever comes their way.

Remember: At ECMS your strength is already inside you, and the more you connect with these sources, the stronger and more unstoppable you become!
