Traffic Flow Improvements at Lewis

The Cobb County Department of Transportation (Cobb DOT)

and the Cobb County School District (CCSD) are committed

to the safe and efficient movement of traffic and pedestrians

within Cobb County school zones. To improve traffic safety

and operations, both agencies have cooperated to create a new

and improved traffic flow for Lewis Elementary School (ES)

that will allow for greater on-site queuing and alleviate current

traffic backups on Jim Owens Road.

Beginning August 2021, the drop-off/pick-up line will be

double stacked, creating two one-way lanes. These lanes will

merge into one curbside lane at the actual student drop-off/

pick-up location. Vehicles will enter at the eastern driveway.

The western driveway will be gated (see map on the reverse

side for details).

New signs, pavement markings, and other traffic control

devices will be installed to guide traffic flow.
