An Arts Integration School

The current Powder Springs Elementary School is the fourth facility to serve the historical community of Powder Springs, Georgia.  The original public school, Springville Academy was established in 1840. In 1859, the city was incorporated as Powder Springs and the school became known as Powder Springs High School.  With the implementation of the middle school concept, the sixth grade was moved to McEachern Middle School in 1970.  Powder Springs became an elementary school housing grades one through five with kindergarten added for all children in 1980. The ground breaking for the current building was held in the fall of 1987 and the school opened in the fall of 1988.

Powder Springs Elementary School has an enrollment of approximately 800 students (kindergarten through fifth grade with two SNPK classrooms).  In 2011, Powder Springs became eligible for Title I funds.  These funds are used to support extra instruction, hire additional staff, and to provide instructional resources and materials.

We are proud to be a part of the Powder Springs community. Our school works closely with our parents, local businesses, churches, and other organizations to support our students. Our school vision is Investing in tomorrow while engaging creative minds today. Our mission is to Invest, Inspire, and Innovate with Integrity.  By working together, we are making a difference in the lives of our students.

Cognia Review

Cobb families know the Cobb County School District has a reputation for excellence, as Cobb’s students consistently perform better than their peers. You could live anywhere, yet over 200,000 parents choose to raise their children in Cobb. You know that a Cobb education gives your children a competitive advantage for scholarships, college, future employment, and life.

Once again, Cobb families can feel even more confident their students are receiving a high-quality education following the most recent accreditation review by Cognia, one of Cobb’s accrediting agencies and one of the largest in the world.

After recently completing an Accreditation Engagement Review, which took almost one year to complete, every school in Cobb County has been accredited for an additional six years.

PSE Houses: Building Community and Belonging

Beginning in the 2024–2025 school year, PSE proudly launched our House System as a way to strengthen our school culture and deepen our sense of community. This initiative grew from an idea of our Principal, Kenyatta Frederick, with the goal of creating a school environment where every student feels connected, supported, and celebrated.

Inspired by the House System at the Ron Clark Academy, our PSE Houses bring students and staff together across grade levels. The House System allows students to build relationships with peers beyond their classroom, get to know staff members in a meaningful way, and experience school as a fun, inclusive, and supportive community.

Each student and staff member belongs to one of four houses: Amavel, Tutum, Lodidi, or Kuumba. Within each house, students gain encouragement from older and younger peers, participate in celebrations and house parties, and work together to strengthen positive school culture. House Staff Leaders and Student House Leaders help guide their houses, organize events, and model leadership and teamwork.

Our House System directly supports our PBIS behavior expectations by:

  • Establishing a strong sense of community
  • Encouraging positive interactions
  • Reinforcing expectations of being responsible, kind, and safe

Each house represents a core value we want to grow in every student:

  • AmavelKindness
  • KuumbaCreativity
  • LodidiResponsibility
  • TutumSafety

Through our PSE Houses, we celebrate students, foster leadership, and create lasting connections—making school a place where everyone belongs and thrives.
