Season of Giving: Cobb Schools Show Thankfulness

November 21, 2025 — As Cobb Schools prepared to head into Thanksgiving break, signs popped up across the District of schools celebrating the holiday season in their own unique and engaging ways for students and their families.
Schools like Pine Mountain Middle, Addison Elementary, and King Springs Elementary hosted Thanksgiving lunches.
Those schools are among the dozens in Cobb that welcomed families to join students for a special Thanksgiving meal prepared by members of the Cobb Schools Food and Nutrition Services team.
"It brings in the community, our hearts are all in the same place, and we're all thankful," said Cobb Schools Board Chair David Chastain, who joined families at Addison Elementary.

Powers Ferry School and Nickajack Elementary School hosted a special Turkey Bingo event that had students eager to come to school, while Smitha Middle School made sure that no family left school without food.
Smitha students helped prepare baskets of supplies and items to make a Thanksgiving meal with and sent them home with students whose families could use a little extra support this holiday season.

Turkey Bingo at Powers Ferry filled the school's cafeteria with students and families playing bingo for a chance to take home turkeys, pies, gift cards, and more.
Festive moments, such as Turkey Bingo and Thanksgiving feasts, remind principals across Cobb how much they have to be thankful for—especially the students who fill their halls with excitement.
"When I walk down the halls, I feel empowered every minute I'm there. Seeing how excited the kids are about something happening or something they're learning is truly a blessing," said Pine Mountain Principal Dr. David Nelson.

As students prepare to take time away from school and spend time with their loved ones, Cobb leadership recognizes all of the good happening right now across schools in the district.
"We have so much to be thankful for at the district level, the board level, but it all boils down to being thankful to our teachers for creating an environment where students can learn, thrive, grow, and succeed," said Chastain.
