During the third quarter, our first graders participated in a hands-on STEM lesson led by a wonderful parent and classroom volunteer. Using the book Where Do Animals Live? by Bobbie Kalman, students built on their classroom learning about how animals meet their basic needs—food, water, air, and shelter—across different habitats.

After the read‑aloud, students selected an animal of interest to research. They then used Book Creator to design a digital page highlighting facts about where their animal lives and how it survives in its environment.

This engaging activity gave students the opportunity to practice scientific thinking, conduct simple research, and explore their digital creativity—all while deepening their understanding of animal habitats.
