Student Handbook & Policies
Principal’s Note
Welcome to Barber Middle School! We are excited about the learning opportunities students will experience this year. We look forward to working alongside students and families to ensure we reach our vision:
To provide an environment where ALL students succeed in character, academics, and fine arts.
Students, we want you to strive to be your best, academically and behaviorally. Parents, we want you to actively engage with our school and staff as we create a partnership to ensure students understand and can demonstrate mastery of the standards, tap into their talents, create connections with peers and staff, and be the best version of themselves.
To assist our students with succeeding in character, academics, and fine arts, we encourage them to plug into clubs, organizations, and/or activities that are of interest to them: Running Club, Bug Bytes, STEM Competitions, and STARS, to name a few. As a CCSD STEM Certified School and as a school that was recognized as a PBIS Distinguished School, we expect the best from our students, and you should expect us to give you our best.
We have created this Student Handbook to help everyone see and read information regarding Cobb County School District and Barber Middle School expectations, policies, procedures, and additional information. Please take time to review the Student Handbook with your student, so everyone is aware of pertinent information related to our school. Upon completion of your review of our student information, please read and initial in the appropriate location on the last page of the Student Handbook, Parent and Student Acknowledgment Form. Student Handbooks will remain in the possession of our students, and the Parent and Student Acknowledgment Form should be turned into your child’s homeroom teacher by August 7, 2026.
Again, we look forward to working with you! Welcome!
Sincerely,
Tia Amlett
This Handbook is considered a Textbook. Student Handbooks will be issued and treated the same as a textbook. If you lose or damage your student handbook, you will be required to replace it for a cost of $5.00.
Protocol for Resolving Concerns
If your child is having social and/or peer concerns involving other students, we recommend you contact the appropriate counselor to assist with addressing and resolving the concern. If you have concerns about grades or staff, we encourage parents to work with the classroom teacher first. If the issue cannot be resolved, please reach out to the appropriate Professional School Counselor and/or Assistant Principal.
