Important Winter Weather Update from Cobb Schools

January 30, 2026 — If this feels a little familiar, you’re not wrong. Winter weather is back in the forecast, and Cobb Schools is once again keeping a close eye on conditions.
Based on the winter storm warning from the National Weather Service and Gov. Kemp declaring a state of emergency, all extracurricular activities and athletics scheduled for Saturday, January 31, and Sunday, February 1, are canceled. With the potential for snow, well below-freezing temperatures, and slick roads, we’re making this call now so families and staff can plan and stay safe.
Here’s what to expect next:
- District and school teams will continue preparing campuses and monitoring conditions throughout the weekend.
- Stay tuned for updates over the weekend, as there are significant unknowns with this storm and what effects it may have for school on Monday. We're watching the weather, and if an update is needed, we'll let everyone know.
Stay connected by:
- Checking www.cobbk12.org for the latest updates
- Confirming your contact information is current in CTLS Parent
- Following @CobbSchools on Facebook, Instagram, and X
With colder temperatures expected, now’s a good time to plan ahead, bundle up, and maybe track down those gloves from last week.
Thank you for partnering with us. Stay safe, stay warm, and we’ll stay in touch.
