Durham

Middle School

Durham's vision is that all students succeed in academics, arts, and character, and the numbers back it up: above the state in every subject the Georgia Milestones tests, a U.S. News top-100 Georgia middle school, and a Georgia Math Leaders school recognized in three categories. The fine arts run deep, with band, orchestra, chorus, and drama all staffed, plus the Durham Dynamix, Jazz Band, and Fiddlers.

Above the state, across the board

On the 2026 Georgia Milestones, Durham students scored above the state in every tested subject: math by 14.6 points, social studies by 19, and science by 2.8, on the share of students at Developing Learner or above.

Fine arts with a bench

Band, orchestra, chorus, drama, and art are all staffed, and performing groups like the Durham Dynamix, Jazz Band, and Fiddlers take the stage at school and community events.

A path for advanced learners

Advanced course placement runs on published criteria, and the state named Durham a Georgia Math Leaders school for 8th grade Gateway growth plus high school achievement and growth.

A community with roots

Durham celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2025 with a community party on the land the school is named for, and traditions like Student of the Week keep the school feeling small.
