The Cobb Schools’ Athletic Department has selected the latest Coach of the Month (COM) winners. The COM award highlights a female and a male coach doing exceptional work in the District.

In conjunction with the Atlanta Braves and Good Game Atlanta, the winners receive a complimentary one-night stay at Aloft Atlanta at the Battery and dinner from Good Game Atlanta.

“This is a small token of our appreciation for their efforts both on and off the court,” said Cobb’s Director of Athletics, Don Baker. “Coaches teach a full day, and their days are only half-over when the bell rings at 3:30. They continue to work with our student-athletes for hours each week, often at the expense of their own spouses and children. We believe we have the best coaches in the state and want to celebrate them as much as possible!”

The November winners are head coaches from Harrison and Pebblebrook. Carol Burrows coaches Swimming for the Hoyas, and Asim Narcisse-Williams is the Falcons’ Flag Football coach.

Carol Burrows, Harrison, Swimming

Coach Burrows is always willing to step in and help wherever needed. A perfect example is her leading the Swim Team while the head coach was out with Covid recently. She also serves as the liaison for parents and works with new swimmers coming into the program. Her optimism and encouragement are clearly evident. She pushes the kids and holds them accountable while still being able to show them the love they need when they need it.

“She is a huge asset to our school and students,” said Harrison Athletic Director Wes Ellis. “She has been in a coaching capacity since I arrived at Harrison. Coach Burrows has served as both Lacrosse and Swim assistant coach. When given the opportunity, she jumped right in to assist the Swim program. In fact, this sums up her personality as well: she’s always there to help with anything we need at Harrison.”

Harrison Principal Ashlynn Campbell agreed: “Coach Burrows is always a breath of fresh air with her big smile and positive attitude.”

Asim Narcisse-Williams, Pebblebrook, Flag Football

Better known as Coach Mo, he helped lead an impressive turnaround for the Falcon Flag Football program in its second year. The team went from winning only one game in 2022 to winning ten games this season and earning a GHSA playoff slot. He has instilled a culture that exudes confidence, respect, and a championship mentality.

“He does his part to better our school. He greets everyone with a smile and positive energy,” said Pebblebrook AD Robert Figueroa. “We love his attitude and ability to connect with the students. He is easy to work with and supports our vision for Athletics and Pebblebrook as a whole.”

“In the classroom, Coach Mo provides students with skill sets in audio and video. He also assists with live streaming school events and prepares students to have the knowledge base necessary for our Brook Squad TV team. The pride he takes in leading his Flag Football Program is incredible, and that pride has bled into each of his athletes. It truly has been a beautiful thing to witness,” AD Figs concluded about his Coach of the Month.
