The Lego Robotics Club

Mission and Purpose: We want students to use STEM and their critical thinking skills to solve real-world problems.

Meeting Times: We meet twice a month in the library

Description/Past and Planned Activities: We help students to enhance their critical thinking skills by creating and programming robots. Students will use their robots to solve real-world problems and complete missions designated through the Lego Robotics League.

FBLA – Future Business Leaders of America

Mission/Purpose: Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) introduces students to the world of business. Members can explore careers and delve into business principles with real-world activities.

Meeting Times: Twice a month on Thursdays after school

Description of Planned Activities: Leadership Opportunities-activities and discussions focused on building strong leadership skills and understanding what effective leadership looks like. Business Fundamentals-hands-on activities exploring core business principles and how business connects to various industries and career paths. Technical Skills Development-hands-on activities designed to strengthen technical abilities and apply problem-solving skills in real-world scenarios.

Technology Student Association (TSA)

Assigned Sponsor: Williams, Nichole Nichole.williams@cobbk12.org  

Mission/Purpose: TSA is a place for students to learn, create, and compete using technology.

Meeting times: Thursdays before and after school; starting Aug. 14th

Description of Past/Planned Activities: 3-D printing and design, Stock Market Game, problem-solving through Minecraft, App design, and debating technical issues.

 

Student Leadership Council

Mission/Purpose:  Promotes leadership development through service-learning opportunities, primarily within the school and, when possible, the broader community.

Meeting Times: Meets once a month before school

Description of Past/Planned Activities: Generating school improvement ideas, organizing campus events, facilitating campus beautification efforts, and attending leadership workshops when they are available.


Redd Readers

Mission/Purpose: Students will choose, read, and discuss books in a casual book club setting.

Meeting Times: Meets monthly, 2nd Tuesday, 8:15 AM (Room 810).

Description of Past/Planned Activities: Redd Readers is a student-driven book club that gathers once a month before school to select and discuss a variety of books.


Jr. Beta Club

Mission/Purpose: To recognize high academic achievement, foster leadership skills, encourage service to others, and prepare young people for life.

Meeting Times: Every other Tuesday, 8:15AM-8:45AM and 4:30PM-5:15PM in the school library

Description of Past/Planned Activities: Earn volunteer hours, Hillgrove Homecoming Parade, Hillgrove Trunk Fest, organize Lost and Found closet, annual Valentine’s sale, raise money for charities, classroom cleanup, schoolyard cleanup, upcoming 6th-grade school tours, and Induction Ceremony.


LMS Dance Team

Mission/Purpose: To increase flexibility, enhance posture, boost confidence on stage, foster team building, and learn choreography.

Meeting Times: Wednesdays from 4:30-5:30 PM in the LMS Theater

Description of Past/Planned Activities: Hillgrove Homecoming Parade, Black History Month Program, Multicultural Festival, and Spring Showcase Performance

Student Organizations

Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA)

Assigned Monitor: Samuel Griffith  Samuel.griffith@cobbk12.org

Mission/Purpose: FCA is a student-led, Christian gathering that is open to all students and is a place for friends, fun, and faith. Our purpose is to bring students together to pursue the Christian faith and build friendships with each other.

Meeting Times: Friday mornings from 8:15 to 8:45.

Description of Past/Planned Activities: Every week, we play intramural-type games and listen to a student pastor from a local church. FCA students participate in service projects to support Lovinggood students and faculty in need.

Mission and Purpose: To Empower a Well World.

Meeting Times: Every other Wednesday at 8:15, some after school activities with advanced notice.

Description/Past and Planned Activities: Sources of Strength is a student-led program that helps create a positive, connected, and supportive school community. It brings together students who are positive leaders within their peer groups to spread hope, kindness, and resilience. Peer Leaders encourage healthy coping skills, build positive relationships, and help classmates know where to turn when they need support. Together, we can make our school a place where everyone feels seen, valued, and supported.

How to join: Students interested in becoming a Peer Leader should fill out the interest form here: Peer Leader Interest Form. Deadline to apply is Friday, August 28. Peer Leaders must attend a training in order to participate in Sources of Strength. Due to size restrictions, filling out the interest form does not guarantee a spot.
