The Olympics return this Summer, Paris, France will hold the games starting in late July. Before the lighting of the torch in Paris, McClure will host our own Olympics in May.
The annual McClure Olympics are coming and it is time to sign up for your events. Our Olympics will be held in May but it takes a great deal of time to organize and manage your events. The deadline for you to choose your field events is April 24th. The Olympic category of events are posted in the Maverick Minute, or you can access them here. You will notice that some events are in more than one category (Musical Chairs is in category 1 & 4, Four Square is in Category 1, 2, 4 & 5, etc.). You will be signing up for a first and a second choice in each category. While you can do an event more than once in different categories, you must choose two different events within each category, a first choice and a second choice. You will be placed in one of those choices. Do not choose the same event twice in one category. When you are sure about your choices click “submit”. Once you click submit your choices are final!
Olympic Category of Events 2024
Category 1:
- Battleship (4-way volleyball with large bouncy ball)
- Fast Tracks (kickball type game)
- Four Square
- Musical Chairs
- Ping Pong
- Star Wars (dodging game with balls)
Category 2:
- Four Square
- Name That Tune & Limbo
- Speedball (football keep-away with flag belts)
- T-Cell (dodging game with balls)
- Volleyball
- Whiffle Ball (softball/baseball with plastic ball/bat)
Category 3:
- Crazy Relays (relay races with different equipment: potato sacks, balls, balloons, bean bags, hurdles, etc.)
- Fast Tracks (kickball type game)
- Floor Hockey
- Soccer
- Spikeball (partners hitting a small ball into a net on the ground for the other team to hit)
- Win, Lose or Draw (like the board game Pictionary- draw item on whiteboard and team guesses)
Category 4:
- 3-Ball (dodging game with balls)
- Crazy Relays (relay races with different equipment: potato sacks, balls, balloons, bean bags, hurdles, etc.)
- Four Square
- Mission Impossible (trying to get your entire team across the gym without touching the floor while using different pieces of equipment to do it)
- Musical Chairs
- Ultimate Frisbee (passing a frisbee to teammates to reach endzone)
Category 5:
- Corn Hole (throwing beanbag into a hole in a board)
- Crab Soccer (indoor soccer in seated position moving around by crab walking)
- Fast Tracks (kickball type game)
- Four Square
- Speedball (football keep-away with flag belts)
- Team Handball (passing a ball in the air to teammates and shooting into a goal on the ground)
