Pitner Elementary Home of the Patriots.png

Welcome to Pitner!

Pitner Elementary is located in Acworth, a nothern suburb of Atlanta, Georgia.  We opened in the fall of 2003 to relieve several overcrowded neighboring schools, and were named for former Cobb County Board of Education long-time member Harmon Wayne "Buck" Pitner.

Mr. Pitner was a school board member for twelve years, worked in the Acworth banking community for over 44 years, was a member of the Acworth  City Council, and served at Acworth United Methodist Church.  Like its namesake, our school is known for pride in the community, commitment, and service!

Staff describe our community as:

  • CARING.  We are a family where everyone cares, everyone pitches in, and we celebrate our kids and their accomplishments past the year we taught them.
  • DIVERSE.  Our students and staff are diverse and we honor culture, heritage, and the richness that each student, family, and staff member bring to our school.
  •  COMMITTED.  We have multiple staff members who have served at Pitner since it opened in 2002!  Others have spent over a decade invested in our students.
  • FORTUNATE WORK WITH THE BEST KIDS!  Our kids are AWESOME!  They work hard, want to learn, and are the best!  WE LOVE OUR PITNER PATRIOTS!

We are proud of our Pitner Patriots and look forward to sharing our amazing school with you!

Cognia Review

Cobb families know the Cobb County School District has a reputation for excellence, as Cobb’s students consistently perform better than their peers. You could live anywhere, yet over 200,000 parents choose to raise their children in Cobb. You know that a Cobb education gives your children a competitive advantage for scholarships, college, future employment, and life.

Once again, Cobb families can feel even more confident their students are receiving a high-quality education following the most recent accreditation review by Cognia, one of Cobb’s accrediting agencies and one of the largest in the world.

After recently completing an Accreditation Engagement Review, which took almost one year to complete, every school in Cobb County has been accredited for an additional six years.
