Guest Reader - Dr. Maynard, Area Superintendent

We've been having a great time celebrating reading this week! Guest readers came in Wednesday and read to all the classrooms. Every class had at least 2 guest readers! Our guest readers were from the fire department, KSU athletic department, Presbyterian Village, retired teachers, Sherriff's department, parents, Dr. Maynard, our area superintendnet, Becky Sayler, our school board member, and teacher's friends and family.

Read Across America is here! There are several activities that last all week.
250 Years of Voices: Read the Stories that Shaped America

  1. 250 Years of Voices Beanstack Reading Challenge (There is a Beanstack app also.)
    1.  Goal - read 200 min from March 1 to March 15.
    2.  Earn digital badges to get digital tickets to put toward prizes in Beanstack.
    3. You can read anything. There are digital books in SORA. SORA also has an app.
  2. Reading Coach App - Practice your reading fluency. https://coach.microsoft.com/join/678919 OR https://coach.microsoft.com/join/532935
    1. Read as many passages as you'd like and practice your fluency.
    2. If you read one of the above passages, you'll earn a pencil.
  3. We the People Riddles - Students will have a sheet with riddles. Once they complete the page, they bring it to the library learning commons to check it and earn a prize.
  4. Reading Bingo - Read 5 in a row - across, down, or diagonal. A teacher or parent initials the square when it is completed. Students bring the completed bingo sheet to the library for a prize!
  5. Estimate - How many red, white, and blue gummy bears and Hershey kisses are in the jars altogether? Students will give their Estimate to their teacher to turn in. The student closest to the correct amount gets to choose which candy to keep. The second closest gets the candy that is left.
