August 26, 2026 — Adding to Wheeler High School’s record of academic success, the school ranks No. 54 among public high schools in Georgia for the 2026-27 school year, according to the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings. Wheeler is one of 11 Cobb Schools ranked among the top 100 high schools in Georgia.

When looking at schools just in the metro Atlanta area, Wheeler ranks 42nd. 

These rankings are calculated based on college readiness, state assessment proficiency, state assessment performance, graduation rate, college curriculum breadth, and performance of underserved students.  

Not only has Wheeler proven to be one of the top schools in the state, but Wheeler’s recognition extends well beyond Georgia, especially in STEM.

When looking at the best STEM High Schools in the entire country, Wheeler is 46th. This is a testament to the hard work happening at the Wheeler STEM Academy, which continues to gain national recognition.

Outside the STEM Academy, Wheeler High School ranks in the top 7% of the 27,000 public high schools nationwide. 

The latest national rankings reflect Wheeler’s strong academic record and national STEM excellence—more proof of the achievement families can expect at Wheeler.
