Mission

The mission of the Chalker Professional School Counseling Department is to deliver a comprehensive school counseling program that provides all students, family, staff and community members the creative freedom to acquire attitudes, skills, and knowledge to be productive citizens in an ever-changing society.

Vision

The students at Chalker Elementary participate in curriculum that is enriched by career, academic, and socio-emotional awareness. They are high-achieving learners who are ready to meet the challenges of society with support from the comprehensive school counseling program. As students evolve at Chalker, they are prepared to be successful life-long learners, who spark wonder, dream dreams, and become more than ever imagined.

The Chalker Professional School Counseling Program’s Philosophy

Chalker Professional School Counselor’s Believe:

  • All students can learn and achieve given proper support
  • Students have the right and opportunity to participate in guidance curriculum that supports academic, career, and personal/social development
  • The educational community must actively participate to create a successful School Counseling Program

Chalker Professional School Counselor’s Program Will:

  • Be comprehensive in scope and proactive in nature
  • Be an integral part of a total educational program for students’ success
  • Be a delivery system that includes school guidance curriculum, individual student support, responsive services, system and community support
  • Use data to drive intentional guidance activities and advocate for systems change

Chalker Professional School Counselor’s Will

  • Collaboratively implement the comprehensive program to address all students’ developmental needs
  • Be an advocate for every member of the school community
  • Follow professional and ethical guidelines as stated by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA)
