Time Commitment
Summer Term compresses 16 weeks into 6 — daily engagement is essential. A .5 unit class (e.g., Personal Fitness or Biology B) requires approximately 20 hours per week. Structure and Flexibility
CVA classes are asynchronous, allowing students to work at times that suit them best. There are no regular live sessions, but each student will have a synchronous welcome meeting with their teacher. Optional in-person or virtual support is available through CVA Learning Centers. Students may work ahead but must meet all deadlines in the Class Schedule.

Heart Rate Monitor Information
CVA will no longer issue heart rate monitoring equipment. Students can use their own device or use Rate of Perceived Exertion (RPE) to monitor workout intensity. This approach is aligned with current physical education practices and fully supports state and national PE standards.
What Is RPE and Why It Matters
During workouts, aim for an RPE level of 6 on a 1–10 scale — moderate to vigorous effort. You should be breathing harder and feel challenged, but still able to continue. RPE encourages listening to your body, builds lifelong fitness skills, and emphasizes self-assessment, goal setting, and personal growth.

Recommended Device
CVA recommends using your CCSD-issued computer to complete assignments. CVA classes are delivered through the Cobb Teaching and Learning System (CTLS). Using your school-issued device ensures full compatibility with all course tools.
Geo-Restriction & Travel
CTLS is geo-restricted and is only accessible within the physical boundaries of the United States. Using a VPN while traveling outside the United States may help you access geo-restricted content. Review the CVA FAQ page for details if you plan to travel during the Summer term.
+Final Exams & EOCs

EOC Important Requirements
Students must bring a photo ID to testing. Accepted forms include the StudentVue app displaying student photo and CCSD information, a driver's permit, driver's license, or passport.
Students who do not take the EOC at the scheduled time will receive a grade of zero, which will be factored into their final course grade. Students must then contact their local school in the Fall to schedule a makeup EOC. Once the makeup score is returned from the State, the final course grade will be recalculated and posted to the student's transcript.
