Durham nurse, Carey Whitman named Durham Middle School Classified Employee of the Year!   

This is Mrs. Whitman's seventh school year at Durham Middle School. She worked a year and a half at an elementary school in Paulding County prior. Before becoming a school nurse, she worked in the hospital on a cardiac floor as well as in GI outpatient surgery. Mrs. Whitman says, "School nursing has, by far, become my favorite nursing role. I LOVE working with students and teachers and families. Being part of a school team, and the CCSD team is a joy and a privilege. I continue to learn from our students every day and I hope that never ends."

Mrs. Whitman grew up on military installations all over the world including Berlin, Germany, Adana, Turkey, and several in the continental United States. She attended twelve different schools while growing up. She has lived in Georgia since 1990 so now considers herself a Georgia girl. Mrs. Whitmat spends her free time with family and friends, hanging out at her church, cooking, and reading. She shares that "It’s a wonderful life!"
