September 24, 2026- The Georgia Department of Education and State School Superintendent Richard Woods have named the 2026 AP Honor Schools, and Sprayberry High School was one of them!

All 16 traditional Cobb High Schools were recognized for this Award.

The 2026 list is based on Advanced Placement (AP) courses and exams from 2025. The recognition of Cobb’s 16 traditional high schools reflects the access students across the District have to challenging AP courses and the opportunity to earn college credit before they graduate.

Schools were evaluated across eight categories to determine which met each standard for excellence: AP STEM, AP STEM Achievement, AP Distinction, AP Humanities, AP Humanities Distinction, AP Expansion, AP Access and Support, and AP Challenge. 

Sprayberry was recognized for excellence in six of those categories: 

AP STEM 

This category recognizes schools with a minimum of five students testing in at least four AP STEM courses. This includes courses such as AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP Statistics, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Environmental Science, AP Physics 1, AP Physics 2, AP Physics C, AP Computer Science A, and AP Computer Science Principles.

AP STEM Achievement

This category recognizes AP STEM schools with at least 50% of all AP STEM exams earning scores of 3 or higher. 

AP Distinction 

This category recognizes schools with at least 20% of the total student population taking AP exams and at least 50% of all AP exams earning scores of 3 or higher.

AP Humanities 

This category recognizes schools with at least five exams administered in each of the following AP categories: one ELA course, two social studies courses, one fine arts course, and one world language course. 

AP Humanities Achievement 

This category recognizes AP Humanities schools with at least 50% of all AP Humanities exams earning scores of 3 or higher. 

AP Access and Support 

This category recognizes schools with at least 30% of AP exams taken by students who identified as African American and/or Hispanic and 30% of all AP exams earning scores of 3 or higher.

Of the almost 1200 public High Schools in Georgia, only 316 schools earned the distinction for 2026, including Sprayberry.
