Best in the Metro: Cobb Students' SAT Scores Once Again Stand Out

September 30, 2025—Thousands of students take the SAT every year, and their scores can be used to earn scholarships and incredible career and college opportunities.
Cobb Schools has the best scores in the metro area, with an average score of 1116 out of a possible 1600. This means that Cobb students ranked higher than Atlanta Public Schools, DeKalb County Schools, Fulton County Schools, and Marietta City Schools on average when taking the SATs.
This most recent data is also a sign of growth, which can be attributed to the hard work of students and the dedicated staff who help make sure every student is as prepared as possible. In 2024, the average score in Cobb was 1105, while the 2025 average was up 11 points.
Some of the top performing schools within the District included Walton (1260), Lassiter (1206), Wheeler (1191), Pope (1185), Kennesaw Mountain High School (1150), and Harrison (1138).
Walton's average of 1260 ranks them fourth in the state, while Lassiter's 1206 places them 12th in Georgia.
"Parents I talk to don't listen to what we say, they watch what we do. The highest SAT scores in the metro, a record graduation rate, graduates walking across stages straight into high-earning jobs, and scholarships. That's what we do, year in and year out," said Board Chair David Chastain.
These standout scores also come in well over the 2025 state average of 1038, 9 points higher than the national average of 1029.
The district's average for the evidence-based reading and writing section was 572 out of a maximum of 800, seven points higher than in 2024. The district average for the math section was 545 out of a maximum of 800, five points higher than in 2024.
