2026-2027 Election Information

I appreciate your interest in Walton’s Student Government Association. You will find all the information you will need to run for a class office. Please read all the information carefully. Some things to remember as you consider running for office:

  • Before committing to run for office, consider your responsibilities for next year. YOU WILL FIND ALL OFFICER RESPONSIBILITIES IN THE SGA CONSTITUTION, FOUND ON THE SGA WEBSITE.
  • The Walton Student Government Association (SGA) must be your essential priority. Consider how you will give the necessary time for meetings, projects, and officer responsibilities when you may also be involved in sports, other organizations, or a job. We want you to be involved, but do not commit to more responsibilities than you can cover. It is better to do a good job on one thing than a poor job on several things! You must fulfill 8 hours of service in the Fall and 4 hours in the Spring semesters.
  • ·There will be 4 class officers and 4 class representatives for each grade level. Class representatives will be chosen from the students with the second highest number of votes for each Officer position.
  • If elected, you must pay a one-time $30 fee to cover your SGA t-shirt and other incidental costs. Dues not being paid by November 1 will increase to $40. Dues not paid by January 1 will result in immediate dismissal from office.
  • The first SGA meeting will be held at the end of the 2025-26 school year.

GENERAL WALTON SGA MEMBER RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Attend all SGA meetings and sponsored activities. Meetings will be held at 7:30 AM on the Second Friday morning of the month. Understanding that academics take precedence, attendance at meetings and events is vital to the success of our administration. Absences will not be tolerated – students who miss more than two meetings or are consistently absent from other SGA activities without a valid excuse will be removed from office. Activities include, but are not limited to:

  • Fundraising and Community Service
  • School Spirit Activities (including Homecoming and Winterfest)
  • Publicity
  • Class Sports Events

2. All members must volunteer for at least one yearly committee.

ELECTION GUIDELINES AND REGULATIONS:

1. Grades, conduct, and discipline records for all who run for office will be checked. Students who are not in good standing will not be allowed to run for office. If it comes to the Advisor’s attention that any member of SGA has issues with grades or conduct in the classroom, they have been referred to an administrator, and the student may be removed from office. Grades (3.0 or better), conduct (must be satisfactory or better), and discipline record (good standing) will be checked before a candidate is eligible to run for office.

2. Students failing to follow election guidelines will be disqualified.

SGA APPLICATION:

Complete the Microsoft form on the SGA Website or use the QR code below to apply by Sunday, March 22nd, 4 pm.
