Fine Arts

The Walton High School Fine Arts Department is one of the premier high school fine arts programs in Georgia, providing students with exceptional opportunities to grow as artists, performers, and leaders. Through nationally recognized programs in Band, Chorus, Orchestra, Drama, and Visual Arts students develop their talents while building creativity, collaboration, confidence, and a lifelong appreciation for the arts. Nearly half of Walton students participate in a fine arts class or extracurricular fine arts activity, making the arts an integral part of the Walton experience.
A Tradition of Excellence
Walton's fine arts programs consistently earn the highest ratings at regional, state, and national festivals and competitions. Students are regularly selected for prestigious honor ensembles, including Georgia All-State groups, District Honor ensembles, and numerous national recognition programs. Walton graduates have continued their artistic education at some of the nation's most respected colleges, universities, conservatories, and performing arts programs.
Performance Opportunities
Students perform throughout the school year in a wide variety of settings, including:
- Fall, Winter, and Spring Concerts
- Musical theatre productions and dramatic plays
- Marching band performances and football games
- Jazz performances and chamber ensembles
- Solo and ensemble festivals
- Community outreach performances
- State and national music conferences
- Honor ensembles and special invitational performances

Walton Fine Arts students enjoy memorable educational travel experiences that broaden their musical and theatrical perspectives. Recent and past opportunities have included:

Beyond the Classroom
Walton Fine Arts encourages students to explore leadership, service, and scholarship through organizations such as Tri-M Music Honor Society, student leadership teams, and numerous extracurricular ensembles. Students also have the opportunity to earn Georgia's Fine Arts Diploma Seal, recognizing sustained excellence and commitment in the arts throughout high school.

The Walton Band Parent Association, often referred to as Band Boosters, is the non-profit organization that supports our band students and includes ALL parents.

The Walton High School Orchestra program was founded in 1975. The orchestra program has a long history of excellence. Directed by Perry Holbrook and Sara Grimes, the program currently enrolls over 400 string players in seven string orchestra classes.
Walton Drama is a non-profit corporation established to provide our students the opportunity to learn all aspects of the theater and to allow them to share their talents with you.
