NJROTC

NJROTC is the Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps. Current NJROTC member Autumn Lowe says, "A common misconception is that when joining NJROTC, you must enlist when you're done with high school. That is 110% not the case. NJROTC is a program that helps you build leadership qualities and make new friends that you would not think of making while on a sports team. Let's say you are trying to get into college on a scholarship, joining NJROTC helps with that because of the different scholarships they offer. They offer between a full ride & partial so that you & your parents will not have to worry about college debt. Not only that, as a high school unit, we travel sometimes to visit bases, fairs and learn more about the US military. But once again, you do not have to join the military after high school when being in NJROTC. We do wear uniforms every Thursday, but that is only one day per week, which if you think about it, it's not that bad, one less outfit to stress about." NJROTC is helping students better prepare for the future. You will learn many new skills and develop or enrich leadership qualities, and even potentially earn a scholarship to help pay for your college education.
NJROTC is now recruiting people for the upcoming school years as they plan to graduate quite a few seniors. All the NJROTC cadets have made so many lasting friendships from joining this program. NJROTC cadet Aiden Rowe said, "People should give it a try. It's something new, an experience you've never had. Not only that, but it also helps you out with college. It looks great on resumes, not only for college but jobs as well. It definitely helps with confidence and speaking to people, public speaking, speaking to a large crowd. We go on trips, we have different teams, and we are like a family together!" If you are unsure if you want to join, you should try it. It will only help you out and give you many new friends to talk to.
