Allatoona’s artist of the week is 10th grader Lindsey Magaw. She was chosen by art teacher, Loretta Jackson. She says, “She is in my drawing and painting one class, she was also a previous student in VA comp. She’s a talented artist, she continues to grow, and she’s a great artist with an excellent work ethic. Very talented.” She began creating art with her brother when she was five years old but began taking art seriously during Mrs. Jackson’s VA comp class freshman year. She’s grown up around art; her grandma being an art teacher and her brother is currently in art school. She loves working with all mediums, her most recent piece being a watercolor painting. Lindsey’s advice to younger students is, “To not be afraid to make mistakes, and to keep trying and retrying it over and over again and eventually you’ll like it. There's always an ugly stage in art and you just have to keep going.” When asked why she thought she was chosen for artist of the week, she said, “I have no idea.” Congratulations, Lindsey Magaw, for receiving artist of the week! We hope to see your talent grow throughout your future school years.
