Target

The Target Program provides services for identified gifted students in 1st through 5th grade. Eligible students receive pull-out instruction one full day a week. Gifted services meet the specific academic needs of gifted students through activities that include critical and creative thinking, higher order reasoning, research skills, and affective growth.

Students are assessed in four areas: mental ability, achievement, creativity, and motivation. Once assessments are completed, the data is evaluated for determination of eligibility.

Advanced Content

Advanced Content classes are offered for both 4th and 5th grade students in English/Language Arts and Math.

Eligibility for Advanced Content classes is determined by two factors: an 85% or higher on the 3rd grade CogAT test, Age Percentile Rank/Age Norm. This qualification can be in ELA or Math or both. Then, the student must have one of the following: IOWA scores of 90 or higher in Total Reading, Total Math, or both; or, a Level 4 Distinguished on the Milestones test in ELA or Math or both.
