Spring term 2027

Time Commitment

Students are expected to actively engage daily. A or B courses (.5 unit) require approximately 5–7 hours per week. A 1.0 unit class or two .5 unit classes require approximately 10–15 hours per week.

Asynchronous Classes

CVA classes are asynchronous, so students can work at times that fit their schedule. There are no regular live sessions, but each student will have a synchronous welcome meeting with their teacher at the start of the term.

Class Schedule & Deadlines

Students may work ahead, but all work must be submitted by the deadlines listed in the Class Schedule. Review the full schedule at the start of the term to plan your time and stay on track.

Withdraw with Partial Refund

Tuition student withdrawals are allowed through January 22, 2027, at noon. A $75 registration fee will be deducted from any refund issued during this period.

Withdraw with No Refund

The deadline to withdraw with no refund is April 29, 2027 at noon. Visit the CVA FAQ page for full withdrawal information and procedures.

Registration Window

CVA Online Course Registration opens Monday, October 12, 2026 at 9 AM and closes Friday, January 22, 2027 at, 12 noon (Eastern Daylight Time).

Access to Classes Begins

Students will have access to orientation and content classes beginning January 4, 2027. Course assignment due dates also begin the week of January 4th.

Last Day to Submit Coursework

All coursework due between January 4, 2027 and February 24, 2027 must be submitted in CTLS by February 26, 2027. 

All coursework due between February 25, 2027 and April 28, 2027 must be submitted in CTLS by April 29, 2027.

Schedule Change Policy

Cobb County School District policy does not allow schedule changes after the first ten school days in the Fall and Spring terms. Students registering for a CVA course after this 10-day period may have the course request denied by their local school.

Heart Rate Monitor Information

CVA will no longer issue heart rate monitoring equipment. Students can use their own device or use Rate of Perceived Exertion (RPE) to monitor workout intensity. No wearable device is required.

What Is RPE?

During workouts, aim for an RPE level of 6 on a 1–10 scale — moderate to vigorous effort. You should be breathing harder and feel challenged, but still able to continue. RPE builds self-awareness and lifelong fitness skills.

Recommended Device

CVA recommends using your CCSD-issued computer to complete assignments. CVA classes are delivered through the Cobb Teaching and Learning System (CTLS). Using your school-issued device ensures full compatibility with all course tools.

Geo-Restriction & Travel

CTLS is geo-restricted and is only accessible within the physical boundaries of the United States. Using a VPN while traveling outside the United States may help you access geo-restricted content. Review the CVA FAQ page for details if you plan to travel during the term.

EOC Testing Location

Students take EOC tests at their local school, not online. Contact your local school testing coordinator or counselor to determine your specific testing date and time.

Courses with Georgia Milestones EOCs

The following courses include a Georgia Milestones EOC test: Literature and Composition II (B & Y), Algebra (B & Y), US History (B & Y), Biology and Honors Biology (B & Y), and Physical Science (B & Y, middle school students only).

Courses Without EOCs

All courses that do not include a Georgia Milestones EOC have an online final exam. Students are required to take final assessments as scheduled during the December 6–8 window.
