Brad Cohen, Georgia's First Class Teacher of the Year and author of "Front of the Class: How Tourette Syndrome Made Me the Teacher I Never Had", visited Garrett as a part of Cobb EMC & Gas South Literacy Week. Held yearly in October, Literacy Week promotes reading through author visits to local schools in the surrounding area. Students from all three grade levels heard from Brad as he shared his inspiring story about growing up with Tourette Syndrome and the challenges he overcame to become a second grade teacher.
