Football Helmet Cobb Week 2 Standouts

August 26, 2025—Friday nights in Georgia are where some of the brightest stars shine. As is often the case, several of the most noteworthy come from Cobb County teams.

Team of the Week: South Cobb Eagles! The Eagles football team earned their first win in over three seasons! They upset the 21-point favorite Banneker, 28-6, and won the game on the road in College Park. This was South Cobb's first victory since the 2021 season. Great job, Eagles! Next up for the 1-1 Eagles is another travel game against Drew in Riverdale (near Forest Park). Let's keep this win streak going, South Cobb!

The top individual performance of the week came in a contest between longtime rivals McEachern and North Cobb. Indian senior running back Henry Pullen scored all three touchdowns in a 21-0 win over the Warriors. Pullen ran for 223 yards on 26 carries (8.5 yards per carry) with two scores and hauled in a 42-yard TD reception.

The premier defensive highlights from Week 2 came out of East Cobb. Lassiter senior defensive lineman Chase Jones tallied nine solo tackles and assisted on one as well. His dominant showing included a sack and three tackles for loss (TFL) in the Trojans' 35-24 win over Alexander. Meanwhile, Kell senior linebacker Michael Domanik racked up eight tackles with two sacks and two TFL in the Longhorns' 37-0 shutout of Alpharetta.

The outstanding underclassman from the gridiron was Pope freshman running back Ivan Darden. With 167 yards rushing on 27 carries and one TD, Darden was a bright spot for the Greyhounds in their loss to Dunwoody.

Cobb is always home to great quarterback play. Jaden Duckett (Sprayberry) and Aiden Watson (Harrison) carried that banner in Week 2. Duckett accounted for four touchdowns – three passing and one rushing – in the Jackets’ 42-24 takedown of Etowah. The senior QB was 6-for-11 passing with 214 yards and capped that with 152 yards rushing on five carries, highlighted by a dramatic 80-yard TD that sealed the victory. Watson, too, was successful both through the air and on the ground. The sophomore signal-caller threw for 201 yards on 18-for-27 passing with two touchdowns. He added 90 yards rushing on eight carries in the Hoyas' 49-21 win over Wheeler.

In many other weeks, the rushing stats from Walton running back Noriega Thompson would have received top billing. The senior Raider clipped out 191 yards and one TD on 20 carries to help Walton beat Lambert 27-17.

Congratulations to these athletes on their outstanding performances and for representing Cobb County well.
