Athlete of the Week Aug 22 2025

Cobb Schools’ Athlete of the Week (AOW) program is a weekly recognition of male and female student-athletes performing at high levels in their sport, classroom, and school communities. The program is made possible by support from BSN Sports.

The first winners of the 2025-26 school year are from Harrison and Kell. Nola Tylke plays fastpitch softball for the Hoyas, and Quinterrius "Moonie" Gipson is a running back for the Longhorns.

Nola Tylke, Softball, Harrison

A junior at Harrison, Nola led the team offensively with five home runs in 4 games and 13 RBIs. She helped the Lady Hoyas earn victories over Lassiter, Pope, Sequoyah, and North Paulding. Last season, she was named the Region 3-6A Player of the Year and a member of the GACA 2nd Team All-State. She is a scholar-athlete award winner and carries a 4.2 overall GPA. In addition, she was selected to participate in the 2025 Premier Girls Fastpitch All-American Futures Game, which recognizes the top players in the country and is broadcast on ESPN3 and ESPN+.

"Nola is a leader in our program both on and off the field," said her coach Richard Dombrowsky. "She carries herself with quiet confidence and exemplifies her leadership by her actions, always modeling a tremendous work ethic. She is the player that her coaches and teammates trust because she will give her full commitment to whatever is in front of us and be where her feet are in every situation."

"She is an outstanding young lady and a quiet leader in our building," agreed Hoya Athletic Director Wes Ellis. "She is a great representation of the standards and character of a Harrison student and a phenomenal athlete. We are blessed to have her as a student and athlete here at Harrison!"

Quinterrius "Moonie" Gipson, Football, Kell

In Kell's opening game in the Corky Kell + Dave Hunter Classic, Moonie had 15 carries for 196 yards and 2 TDs. He also scored a third TD on an 18-yard reception in the Longhorns' 44-21 home victory over South Paulding. Moonie is a junior and has played football since he was 5. He is also on the Longhorn track team, where he was a 4x1 state qualifier.

"Moonie is a great talent and asset to our team. When he is doing well, the team follows suit," said Kell Head Coach Bobby May. "He is a quiet leader, and his teammates and classmates look up to him because of his confidence and leadership on and off the field. He is always open to hearing my feedback, whether it's after Friday night games or about his academics."

"He is a great kid in every way!" said Kell AD Oneisha Young. "He shows respect and kindness on the field and in the classroom. Moonie currently has a 3.4 GPA and 47 athletic scholarship offers, including UGA, Alabama, and Texas."
