Cobb Teachers Take Center Stage at Annual Teacher of the Year Pep Rally

October 29, 2026 — The sound of the band filled Mission Street Baptist Church in Marietta as cheers erupted from the crowd. Hundreds of Cobb County School District students, educators, and families gathered to celebrate some of the most important people in their lives: their teachers.
At the annual Teacher of the Year Pep Rally, educators from across the District stepped into the spotlight for a celebration dedicated to their contributions in the classroom and beyond. With enthusiastic cheers and a room full of supporters, the event offered teachers a memorable opportunity to be recognized for the work they do every day.

A Journey Worth Celebrating
For Cobb's 2026-27 District Teacher of the Year, Kylie Hardy, the pep rally marked another milestone in a journey that began with recognition at the school level. After being named Teacher of the Year at Mableton Elementary School earlier this year, more honors followed as the Mableton teacher was named the Cobb Schools Elementary Level Teacher of the Year and then earned recognition as the District's top teacher. The journey also opened the door to competing at the state level for the title of Georgia Teacher of the Year.
Describing the experience as a “snowball effect,” Hardy said each new milestone brought another opportunity to celebrate educators and highlight the importance of their work. The growing recognition has been both exciting and humbling.
“To have all of these different opportunities to highlight the job that I do, to celebrate teachers, and then to come here and all be in a collective space and realize that I am just one out of so many teachers across this district who were chosen by their own schools and to be honored in this way,” Cobb's top teacher said, “it's very humbling.”
Across the district, countless teachers make a difference in students' lives, often without seeking recognition for themselves. “I am just one little piece of a much larger district filled with incredible teachers,” said Hardy.

During the ceremony, Marietta City Schools' Teacher of the Year, along with Cobb's three district-level Teachers of the Year, participated in a drawing to determine which brand of new car they would drive for a year completely free, thanks to Ed Voyles Automotive Group. If one of the Cobb teachers is selected as Georgia's Teacher of the Year, they will keep the keys to their new car forever.
While the pep rally creates an exciting atmosphere, its significance extends beyond the cheers, music, and celebration. For educators, it serves as a reminder that their work is seen and appreciated by the communities they serve.
The event reinforces a message that can sometimes get lost in the daily demands of education: Teachers make a difference, and their work matters. Educators rarely enter the profession for awards or attention. Much of their work happens behind the scenes, through daily lessons, encouragement, mentorship, and the relationships they build with students.
A Community That Celebrates Its Educators
The Teacher of the Year Pep Rally is part of Cobb's broader commitment to recognizing the educators who help students learn, grow, and succeed. The annual celebration is also part of the Cobb Chamber's Give Our Schools a Hand initiative, which honors outstanding educators across the community. By bringing together teachers, students, families, and community members, the event transforms educator recognition into a shared celebration.
Students cheer for the teachers who inspire them. Colleagues celebrate one another's accomplishments. And most importantly, the waving posters of praise and the roar of the crowd remind Cobb's educators just how much their community values their contributions.
