Trojan Football and Eagle Volleyball Players win AOW

October 24, 2025—Lassiter's Collins Price and South Cobb's Samira Washington were chosen as this week's Athletes of the Week (AOW). AOW recognizes male and female student-athletes who perform at high levels in their sports, classrooms, and school communities. Support from BSN Sports makes the program possible.
These two players stood out with strong leadership and exceptional play — Collins as a triple-threat player for the Trojan football team and Samira as the Volleyball Region Player of the Year for the Eagles.
Collins Price, Football, Lassiter
In a recent victory over Riverwood, Collins had 13 receptions for 160 yards, four solo tackles defensively, and two returns for 57 yards on special teams. Overall, he accounted for 217 all-purpose yards in the 30-0 region win. He is also a high-performer in the classroom with a 4.2+ GPA. Collins is a true ambassador at Lassiter and is well-respected by everyone—administrators, teachers, and classmates alike.
"Collins has meant a great deal to our football team during his three years with us," said Head Coach Sean Thom. "He has had one of the most productive seasons I have seen to date for a high school player. He has accounted for nearly 1,300 all-purpose yards and 11 touchdowns. He encourages others on the team and holds them accountable. He leads by example in all he does."
Collins stands out for more than his athletic talent.
"He is simply one of the hardest-working student-athletes we have. He lives out our mission of integrity, service before self, and using football to become the best version of himself daily. He is a selfless individual who understands that his own success is dependent on what others around him do as well. Collins is viewed as the all-around student-athlete by coaches, teammates, and peers," concluded Coach Thom proudly.

Samira Washington, Volleyball, South Cobb
For the first time in 25 years, the Lady Eagles advanced to the second day of the state-qualifying tournament. In addition, Samira was named Region Player of the Year in Volleyball, a first for South Cobb. Although Samira is not one of the taller players on the court, she makes her presence known above the net with an incredible 4-foot-2 vertical leap. She is a powerhouse on and off the court with a 3.9 GPA and more than 100 hours of community service! She is also a proud National Honor Society, Beta Club, and the Chick-fil-A Youth Leadership Program member.
"We are so proud of Samira Washington!" said Eagle Volleyball Head Coach Angel Fry. "With three years of club and high school volleyball experience, she has built a reputation as a respectful and hard-working student-athlete. Her explosiveness and volleyball IQ make her a game-changer every time she steps on the court. She represents everything we value in our program: discipline, heart, and perseverance. The future is bright for this standout student-athlete!"
Fry wasn't the only one at South Cobb ready to serve up praise for Samira. F
"Samira is an outstanding example to other student-athletes," agreed Eagle Athletic Director Ormond Moore. "She pushes herself during games, practice, and training. She means so much to our school and perfectly exemplifies our narrative of 'You get out what you put in.'"
