Daniell Middle School Performing Arts

Shelby Bennett has been teaching for nine years and is currently in her eighth year as Chorus Director at Daniell Middle School. Over her career, her students have received numerous excellent and superior ratings at Large Group Performance Evaluation. She has taken students to events such as Christmas at Piedmont, Universal Studios recording studio, and Disney Animation Station. Her students from the Daniell Choruses have attended GMEA events such as District Honor Chorus and All State Chorus, as well ACDA events such as the Georgia ACDA Honor Chorus. 

As a singer, she has performed at the Georgia Music Educators Association twice, participated in the 65th Anniversary performance of “The Testament of Freedom” (words by Thomas Jefferson, music by Randall Thompson), the 125th Anniversary Coca Cola Chorus, and performed with the Atlanta Youth Symphony Orchestra. She is a member of the Georgia Music Educators Association, American Choral Director’s Association, and Mu Phi Epsilon. 

She received the Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Reinhardt University, studying choral music under Dr. Martha Shaw. Mrs. Bennett lives in Acworth, GA with her husband and son, Cooper.

Kevin Boyle is the Director of Bands at Daniell Middle School, and he has taught band and percussion in Georgia for over 20 years.

Mr. Boyle’s ensembles have received consistent Superior ratings at Georgia’s annual Large Group Performance Evaluation. His band students participate in All-District and All-State Bands each year. His middle school percussion ensembles have performed at the Lassiter Percussion Symposium, and his marching ensembles have participated in the Georgia Indoor Percussion Association, SAPA, and WGI.

He is a co-author of the Habits of a Successful Middle School Musician book series, and he has contributed to developing the digital resources for the Do It! Play in Band series from GIA Publications.

An active clinician, Mr. Boyle has presented at The Midwest Clinic International Band and Orchestra Conference, as well as in-service conferences in New York, Connecticut, North Carolina, Ohio, Georgia, and Alabama. Mr. Boyle has also conducted district-level Honor Bands in California, Georgia, and Tennessee.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in music education from the University of Georgia in 2005, and his master’s degree in music education from the University of North Texas in 2019. 

Professional affiliations include Phi Beta Mu, the National Association for Music Education, the Georgia Music Educators Association, the National Band Association, and the Percussive Arts Society. 

Kevin Boyle proudly represents Innovative Percussion sticks and mallets, Sabian Cymbals, and Mapex/Majestic percussion instruments. He currently resides in Kennesaw, GA with his wife Allison.
