Hillgrove NJROTC Wins!

Hillgrove NJROTC cadets recently won the Mountain Madness Regional Orienteering Meet held at McIntosh Reserve County Park. Orienteering is a cross country-style race through unfamiliar terrain where competitors must locate checkpoints using only a map and compass. Hillgrove won all three categories, Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Intermediate (9th Grade) in the event, and in doing so, qualified for the State Championship. Individually, Hillgrove cadets won five of the six categories, with Kiari Owens winning Intermediate Female, Connor Gabriel winning Intermediate Male, Isabell Donea winning JV Female, David Donea winning JV Male and Luke Ballentine winning Varsity Male. Lexi Grote and Alexis Gabriel finished 2nd and 3rd, respectively, on the Female Varsity course. Hillgrove Orienteers are the current defending state and national champions and will attempt to win their third straight state title later this month at FDR State Park in Pine Mountain, GA.
