SAT, ACT, Accuplacer Tests, and Resources
Colleges accept scores from both the ACT & SAT.
They do not prefer one test over the other.
The SAT is an aptitude exam, testing reasoning & verbal abilities.
*Each section is worth 200-800 points, which are added together for a combined score.

The ACT is an achievement test, measuring what a student has learned.
*Each subject is worth 1-36 points, which are averaged together for a composite score.

Accuplacer (COMPASS) Exam
Computer-Adaptive College Placement Test used for acceptance at 2-year or technical colleges (SAT & ACT can be used as well).
- This exam is scheduled through the specific 2-year/tech college to which you are applying.
- Evaluates skill levels in Reading, Writing, & Math
- Helps place students in appropriate courses (college or remedial level)

Students, create an account with Peterson's Test Prep in Cobb Digital Library (Resource in CTLS) for free test prep for both ACT and SAT. Check with the Media Center staff for information.
