Useful College Application Tips
Things to Keep In Mind
- Check the College Visits tab for virtual college rep visits and virtual college tours.
- Narrow your college wish list to 5-10 schools. Be sure to have reach schools, safety schools, and target schools in the list.
- Talk to, or email, your School Counselor for any questions. Some colleges require a counselor recommendation! If you need one contact your School Counselor and complete the forms for Senior Biography below.
- Check college application requirements and deadlines.
- Take the SAT/ACT one more time.
- Complete the FAFSA; the application opens Oct. 1.
- Ask teachers for teacher recommendations, and add them to your Naviance account (View the NAVIANCE tab for more information).
- Go on college tours and visit college reps in the Future Shop.
Senior Biography
- Complete the Senior Biography.
- Email completed Senior Bio to your School Counselor if you need a Counselor Recommendation.
- Email completed Senior Bio to a teacher if you need a teacher recommendation.
- Email the Teacher Worksheet to 1-2 teachers who know you well.
Note: Please allow 1-2 weeks for a Recommendation to be written.
