Osborne Celebrates EOC Distinguished Learners and AP Scholars at Recognition Breakfast

Osborne High School recently hosted a celebratory breakfast to honor over 130 students who achieved recognition as End-of-Course (EOC) Distinguished Learners and AP Scholars. The event not only spotlighted student accomplishments but also celebrated the parents and families whose support played a key role in their success. Parents, siblings, and guests joined together with staff and administrators to enjoy the occasion.
The morning began with warm greetings and an impressive meal prepared by Chef Deller Nesmith and her Culinary Arts students, showcasing the talent within Osborne’s own program. As families gathered, the sense of pride and accomplishment filled the room.
Principal Troy Jones opened the event by reflecting on what it means to be an Osborne Cardinal. He emphasized that these honorees represent the very best of Osborne—students who are excelling not only academically but also in leadership, determination, and character.
Assistant Principal Martha Monreal highlighted the significant progress in Advanced Placement (AP) courses at Osborne. She noted that the number of students taking AP exams has tripled over the past three years, and the number of students scoring a 3 or higher has also increased at the same pace. “Our AP Scholars represent both achievement and growth,” Monreal said. “Their success proves what our students are capable of when they challenge themselves with rigorous coursework.”
Assistant Principal Dr. Ben Needle spoke on the distinction of becoming an EOC Distinguished Learner, an honor awarded to students who score at the highest level on Georgia Milestones End-of-Course assessments. These students demonstrated advanced proficiency and deep understanding, placing them in the top 3% of Osborne High School. Dr. Needle praised their efforts and reminded the audience that such recognition reflects both individual perseverance and the school’s commitment to excellence.
Throughout the breakfast, Osborne’s leaders echoed the same message: extraordinary things are happening at Osborne High School. From growth in AP participation to outstanding performance on state assessments, these achievements show the strength of the Cardinal community.
The event closed with applause and celebration, not only for the scholars themselves but for the families who encourage and support them each day. It was a true reflection of Osborne’s belief that success is a shared accomplishment—one that belongs to the students, their families, and the school community as a whole.
