Friday at Five

May 2, 2025

Teacher Appreciation Week is May 5 – 9.  We will celebrating our teachers everyday this week and can use your help in preparing for the celebration.

1.     Gift Cards:  Teachers love gift cards!  Please pick up a $10 gift card to any of your favorite places and drop them off in the front office any day between now and May 9.  (Popular places are Target, Walmart, Amazon, Publix, Chick Fil A, Starbucks, etc.)  There is not a sign up for this.  Gift cards can be dropped off next week in the front office.  Than you!

2.    We have a themed day called “Just Out of the Blue, Here’s Something for You!”  Please drop off any snacks that are in Blue wrappers to the front office any time between now and May 8!  (Chips Ahoy, Oreos, Gum, Ranch Doritos, Chex Mix, etc.)   Below is a sign up to volunteer to bring a blue item.  Thank you to those of you who have already donated items!

Thank you for your donations!  Our teachers will love it!

Milestones Continue Next Week:

Monday, May 5:  7 ELA Section 1

Tuesday, May 6:  7 ELA Section 2 & 3

Wednesday, May 7:  7 Math Sections 1 & 2

Thursday, May 8:   Algebra Section 1

Friday, May 9:   Algebra Section 2

Make ups will occur throughout the testing window and until May 15.

Please work with us to ensure your child is at school during their testing window.  Try to schedule any appointments on days your child is not testing. Thank you.

Monday, May 5 is the last day for students to check out library books.  All library books are due back by Friday, May 9.

If you know that your student is moving outside of Cobb County Schools for the upcoming school year, they must turn in their laptop before leaving May 16.  If you have any questions about this, please contact our Media Specialist, Dr. Post, at tiffany.post@cobbk12.org

Yearbooks will be distributed Monday, May 19, in homeroom.  We only have about 20 left to sell.  If a student wants one, they need to bring $60 cash to Wendy asap to ensure they get one.  We do not order extras.

Please talk to your students about not writing anything inappropriate in someone else’s yearbook.   There will be consequences for anyone who does that.  Rule of thumb…If you wouldn’t write/draw it for your grandmother to read, then don’t write/draw it in someone else’s yearbook.  Students should not be signing one another’s clothes or arms/legs.

Please be careful driving through our school parking lot.  Also, if your child is a walker, bike/scooter rider, please talk to them about looking both ways in the parking lot, even in the crosswalk.  We want to keep our students safe!

8th Grade Families:  There is not a middle school graduation ceremony.  The only graduation our students have is the one after their senior year of high school.  We will have an 8th grade honors ceremony that will be live streamed on Monday, May 19, at 9:30 am.  Parents may view the ceremony online.  The link will be on our website that morning.

6th & 7th grade families:  There is not a quarter 4 honors ceremony as grades have not been finalized before the end of the school year.

Enjoy your weekend!
