After 21 years serving students and families in Cobb Schools—including roles as a teacher, academic coach, assistant principal, and, most recently, principal of Garrett Middle School—Principal Kristie Brown looks forward to partnering with staff, families, and community members to build on Pearson’s strong foundation. Guided by the school’s mission, "To Connect. To Empower. To Succeed," she believes student success is achieved when students are engaged in learning, motivated to grow, and prepared for future opportunities.

Answer: "In my role as principal, I appreciate every opportunity to celebrate the hard work and successes of students, teachers, and staff. At this year’s Cobb County School District job fair, I had the opportunity to reconnect with a former student whom I had taught at Campbell Middle School. It was meaningful to hear her talk about her family, reflect on her middle school memories, and share her aspiration to become an educator. Moments like this remind me why I love being an educator."

Question: Outside of school, where might parents and students find you, or what’s an interesting fact about you that the school community might enjoy learning?

Answer: "When I am not at school, I enjoy being part of the Smyrna and Metro Atlanta communities. You may find my husband and me at events, trying new restaurants, relaxing at our favorite coffee shop, or visiting the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. Spending time and making memories with friends and family is incredibly important to me. Traveling is my favorite hobby, as it allows me to explore new places, experience different perspectives, and develop a deeper appreciation for cultures around the world. If you see me outside of school, please say hello!"
