September 9, 2025—Pebblebrook is one of the first high schools in the county to celebrate Homecoming this year. Principal Dr. Dana Giles decided to move the festivities to September rather than their usual October time frame. She realized that this would put a lot of pressure on the organizers and the Student Government Association, but everyone accepted the challenge. The weather even cooperated with a fantastic weekend temperature-wise and no rain clouds in sight.

"This year we exceeded all expectations with one of the best and most spirited Homecoming weeks we have ever had," said Dr. Giles with excitement. "I can't say enough about our staff, students, our SGA leadership, and their teacher sponsor, Dr. Dunmeyer, for an incredible week!"

The home football game is always one of the major events of Homecoming, and the Falcons had Meadowcreek on their schedule as the opponent. The two schools entered the game winless, and it would prove to be a fight not to remain that way. Despite a mostly competitive first half, the Falcons were able to build a 14-point lead on the Mustangs heading into halftime, 21-7.

The Homecoming Court was announced and presented at the 50-yard line during halftime, accompanied by an outstanding performance by Pebblebrook's award-winning Mighty Marching Machine band. The home crowd appreciated the music, as well as the acrobatics show provided by the Falcon varsity and junior varsity cheerleaders.

As the game resumed, a scoreless third quarter gave Meadowcreek hope, but an 11-yard QB keeper for a touchdown on the first play of the fourth quarter ended their optimism. The score remained the same for the final 12 minutes and the Falcons brought a much-appreciated Homecoming victory with a final score of 27-7.

This is the first win of the season for new head coach Rodney Hackney. He knew he would be rebuilding with a mostly inexperienced team, but he is slowly moving the Falcons in the right direction.

"We know we made the right choice in selecting Coach Hackney as our Head Coach," Dr. Giles said about her school's football coach. "He already comes with a wealth of knowledge, decades of leadership, and a proven record of turning teams into champions. I am thrilled that our community got to see a glimpse of what he is capable of. Our culture has completely changed, and the respect, attitude, self-discipline, and maturity these young men have demonstrated in such a short time speaks to the great impact an experienced coach has on a young team like ours."

For Pebblebrook's proud principal, the community’s support is just as important as the team’s growth.

"We have the best alumni and community supporters we could ever ask for. Thank you to every Falcon who continues to support our athletic programs. We are looking forward to a great year across the board and want to encourage everyone to see our Falcons in action this year," Dr. Giles concluded about her Pebblebrook Falcons.
