When Principal Martin is not at Garrison Mill supporting students and staff, her favorite pastime is exploring the world. Learn where Principal Martin is headed in her next big adventure and why she is excited to stay at Garrison Mill in this New Principal Q&A.

Question: Why are you excited about joining the Garrison Mill Elementary School community?

Answer: “I have had the fortunate opportunity to be part of the Garrison Mill Elementary School community for three years now and cannot think of a better place to be. The community knows how to work hard, have fun, and make a difference in the world. Students, staff, and parents are always willing to do what it takes to ensure everyone’s success!”

Question: What impresses you most about the Garrison Mill Elementary School students?

Answer: “Every morning, the students of Garrison Mill enter the doors with a smile on their faces and a pep in their step! They are kind: kind to each other, kind to adults, and kind to themselves. When a mistake is made, or there is a setback, they take the opportunity to learn and improve. Their love of learning and desire to explore new ideas bring excitement and joy as they do their best each day. There is no limit to what they can accomplish!”

Question: What do you like most about being an educator, and what is your favorite memory as an educator?

Answer: “My favorite memory as an educator is the combined twinkle in the eye of countless students as they understand a concept for the first time or develop a new skill. I will never forget a student whose first word to me, after months of working together, was “Martin.” After more than twenty years, her voice and the twinkle in her eye as she said just one word continues to bring me joy.”

Question: Outside school, where might students, parents, or staff members run into you?

Answer: “Having grown up in a military family, my favorite pastime is exploring the world. My next big adventure will be traveling to my last continent, Antarctica. I enjoy learning about different cultures and keeping memories through photography. If you won’t be joining me and the penguins, you might find me enjoying time with my family and friends. I am always up for a good board game, going to trivia nights, or exploring new restaurants.”
