July 21, 2026 — During the 2025-26 school year, Cobb County School District became the first in the nation to raise $1 Million for the American Heart Association through the Kids Heart Challenge (Elementary schools) and American Heart Challenge (Middle and High schools)! This is also the fifth consecutive year the District has raised the most funds in the country, earning the #1 spot!
The historic accomplishment reflects more than four decades of partnership between Cobb Schools and the American Heart Association, during which students have supported heart-health education, life-saving research, public-health initiatives, and outreach programs while learning the importance of healthy lifestyles and service to others. This year's record-breaking effort pushed Cobb Schools beyond the million-dollar milestone and further expanded its impact on heart health and wellness education.
"Once again, our students, staff, and families have demonstrated what is possible when a community comes together around a meaningful cause," said Cobb Schools Superintendent Chris Ragsdale. "Becoming the first district in the nation to raise one million dollars for the American Heart Association is an extraordinary achievement. Just as importantly, our students are learning lessons about wellness, compassion, leadership, and service that will stay with them for a lifetime. We are incredibly proud to be five-time National Champions and to continue advancing the life-saving mission of the American Heart Association."
The American Heart Association's Kids Heart Challenge and American Heart Challenge engage students in fun, physical activities while teaching healthy habits and life-saving skills, including Hands-Only CPR. Backed by more than 40 years of research and success, the programs encourage students to stay active, support mental well-being, build self-confidence, and develop healthy behaviors that can last a lifetime.
