Drama's Cayden Phillips Named Artist of the Week

Written by Newspaper Staff Reporter Avery Myers
This week Allatoona is spotlighting Cayden Phillips as the Artist of the Week. Cayden is a junior at Allatoona, and he is very involved in the drama department. He is participating in the One Act Play, Anatomy of Gray, and plans to participate in our other full-length musicals this year. He is also a co-anchor on the morning news show, The Anchor. Cayden is deeply passionate about all things drama and says, “My love for acting and drama started at a young age because of my love of the movies. In middle school, I was given the opportunity to act in small video projects and announce news in front of the school. From that, it just kept growing until I got a lead in the One Act this year.” Ms. Traci Kemp, Allatoona’s amazing drama teacher, recognized this growth and chose Cayden as Artist of the Week because “Cayden has the ability to make performing look effortless. He can create very complex characters with ease and makes the audience truly believe when he performs.” Cayden plans to take this talent further by minoring in drama in college. His advice for younger students and drama enthusiasts is “don’t be afraid; fear can stop you dead in your tracks. You need to let it fall behind you to see the picture clearly.” Cayden is a perfect choice for this week’s Artist of the Week.
