Congratulations to Visual Art's Jasmine Richardson on Being Named Artist of the Week!

Written by Journalism Student Mia Rooney
Allatoona’s artist of the week is freshman Jasmine Richardson! She was nominated by art teacher Mrs. Loretta Jackson. She says that “She has a great attitude, a smile on her face, and she’s willing to jump in and attack any assignment with a positive attitude and a creative spirit. So Jasmine Richardson is my artist of the week.” Jasmine has been creating art since the fifth grade, but it was more of a spur of the moment choice. Her favorite medium is painting and sketching; her least favorite medium is ceramics. She’s never participated in an art competition, but her most recent pieces are the perspective drawings they’re making in VA comp. When asked why she thinks she was chosen for artist of the week she said, “I have no idea, it’s a shock to me!” Her advice to younger students is, “Do what you feel comfortable with, like if you feel something’s not right, you fix it until it feels right.” Jasmine doesn’t have any career plans for traditional art but would like to have a career that deals with design. Congratulations to Jasmine Richardson on receiving artist of the week. We are so proud of you and can’t wait to see what else you do in your Allatoona career!
