Dear Families,

Over the next few weeks, we will begin the process of assigning students to an appropriate class for next year. The Mableton staff spends much time and effort on this placement process. In putting together class lists for next year, we will consider many factors including boy/girl ratios, personalities, academic performance and student behavior. We utilize the classroom teacher’s knowledge of every student, and in addition, our academic support teachers (EIP, ESOL, SPED), specialists, counselors and administrators provide input and review the proposed class lists. There is a Parent Input Form that you may download from the Mableton Website or request in the front office. The form is OPTIONAL.

Please know we will carefully place each student with or without the Parent Input Form. Given the complexity of placing all students, we will NOT consider the following requests:

· Requests for a specific teacher

· Requests that specific students be placed with your child

· Requests NOT to have a specific teacher, unless you have had another child with that teacher in the past.

Your child’s classroom teacher will be noted on ParentVue by July 28th.   Please understand that once homeroom teachers are assigned and students are placed, the lists are final. We will move a student only if it is an oversight on our part during the placement process. Moving even one child from a class can upset the balance of a classroom or interfere with scheduling.

Students approach the new school year in a positive light when we encourage them to be excited about making new friends and getting to know a new teacher. We welcome your input as we begin this process, and we must receive ALL parent input forms by May 13, 2022 because of the complicated nature of student placement.

You may send in a completed form with your child to give to his/her teacher or you may email a copy to laura.postell@cobbk12.org by May 13th.

We will not conduct individual conferences with the administration or counselors regarding placement. Again, each Mableton student will be hand placed with great care whether or not a parent input form is completed. Each student’s emotional well-being and academic success is our priority!
