Principal's Message
rSmy

Good afternoon, Spartan Families,

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week. Please show our teachers how much you appreciate their hard work and dedication to our students! Any act of kindness and recognition will be uplifting.

We only have 2.5 weeks left in the school year and our seniors only have seven days. We are asking our parents to please remind your student that it is considered a felony to bring any of the following to school: Splatball, watergun, or anything that fires a projectileWe need parents to also talk to their student about not posting inaccurate and sensationalized information on their social media platforms. We also suggest that parents put parent controls on their student's phones.

To all parents/guardians of 10th grade students. There is a letter, in English and Spanish, attached below about required immunizations for August 2024.

Please be advised that End of Course (EOC) testing will continue this week. Students who are enrolled in Biology and US History will be tested this week.
Please ensure that your student arrives on time to school during the administration window.  During the assessment date(s) for each course, students must bring their charged laptop and a charger to school. They will be using their CCSD issued laptop for testing. Additionally, cell phones, smart watches, and other electronic devices are not permitted during testing. Teachers will have a plan for collecting devices to ensure they do not cause an invalidation. If you have questions, please contact Antwane.Nelson@cobbk12.org.

Monday, May 6- Biology, Sections 1 & 2

Tuesday, May 7, US History, Sections 1 & 2

We will begin AP tests this week. There is AP information to parents in the attachments below.

The Campbell End of Year Schedule in calendar form is in the attachment below. Please review it so that you are updated about the events for these last few weeks of school.

Parents, please note that when coming to the office to check out your student or communicate with the front office staff, there is a new doorbell system.  A picture ID must be shown and there are signs to assist you.

Message from the Attendance Office

Excused vs. Unexcused Absences: Students are required to obtain a pass from their teacher and report to the school nurse if they are feeling ill during the instructional day.  The school nurse will contact the parent if it is determined the student should go home for the day. These absences are considered excused and coded AEC.  If a student calls/texts a parent for pick up and does not report to the clinic first, the absence from class(es) is unexcused. Students will not have the option to visit the clinic for the nurse to assess after the parent has arrived and have the absence excused.

On special occasions, all early checkouts will require a doctor’s excuse to have the absence coded excused. We encourage all students to remain in school for the full day unless they are not feeling well. We want to limit early checkouts and maximize instructional time.

Parents are reminded that students should not be dropped off before 7:30 AM unless it has been requested by a teacher or coach and they will remain with that adult. Students are also expected to leave the building no later than 4 PM unless they are under the supervision of a teacher or coach.

Best regards,
Dr. Watkins

Please help us celebrate our Varsity Boys' Soccer Team! They will be going to the final round of the state playoffs this Friday, May 10, in Duluth. They beat Archer High School in the Final Four game on Friday, May 3 at CHS with a full stadium of students, staff, parents and the community. The Booster Club is working on a charter bus and the school is working on getting some Spirit Buses. Please look for further information and make plans to come out and support our young men to victory this Friday!

For our third level Engineering Class Capstone Project, we are designing a more efficient and fun way of transportation by creating an electric Go-kart. We chose this project because we wanted an Eco-friendly means of transportation, and we thought it was a great challenge for us to take on to show our skills on coding, mechanics, teamwork, communication, and time management.

We want to get the community involved and inform you of our project. If you would like to assist, please contact our teacher, Sherrina Clark; sherrina.clark@cobbk12.org

Please congratulate the members of Habitat for Humanity for completing the 1400 square foot Earthcraft certified house we have been building since February. The house was dedicated to the 6th grade cafeteria manager for Marietta City Schools on Saturday, May 4th. Our students raised over $20,000 dollars to contribute to the cost of the build and spent seven Saturdays building walls, installing windows, installing siding, painting, and landscaping to make Lisa's dream of being a homeowner an affordable reality.

We did it!

Five FFA Officers attended the 96th FFA State Convention in Macon, GA. The students learned about leadership development, agricultural college opportunities, and agricultural careers during each session at the convention.
